AplusB South-West

We are an AplusB center.

What do we do?

We are part of AplusB South-West and support (aspiring) startups with high-tech innovations in building long-term success. Through targeted funding, hands-on workshops, and individual coaching, we guide founders on their journey – from the initial idea to market entry. We place special emphasis on topics such as climate and environmental protection, as well as the promotion of female entrepreneurship.

Who are we?

As one of six AplusB centers, we are part of the nationwide Austrian incubator network AplusB. AplusB South-West is a strong alliance of regional partners working together to support startups with high innovation potential – from the initial idea to the successful founding of their business:

  • Tirol (Startup.Tirol, University of Innsbruck)
  • Kärnten (Build! Gründerzentrum)
  • Voralberg (Startup Vorarlberg, FH Voralberg)
  • Salzburg (Startup Salzburg)

How do we provide support?

Startups with a research-, technology-, or innovation-based business idea can become part of our FACTORY+ program (an add-on to the FACTORY Incubation Program). This gives them access to exclusive additional services that provide even more targeted support on their path to a successful launch – including:

In our awareness and pre-start-up activities, we also place a special focus on the topics of climate and environmental protection as well as female entrepreneurship and promote research-, technology- and innovation-based start-up ideas in particular.

You can apply for the additional program FACTORY+ (AplusB program) if you …

  • you are pursuing a start-up project that is based on research, technology and innovation (RTI).
  • you are pursuing a start-up project with high growth potential and/or a high propensity for growth.

FTI-based start-up projects have a business model with well-founded and defensible core know-how, i.e. it is based on patentable technology approaches or specialized knowledge that effectively impede imitation by competitors and generate a sustainable competitive advantage.

The business models, products or services of the RTI projects are characterized by one or ideally several of the following features:

  • High level of innovation based on a unique technological selling point.
  • Risky research and development activities in an academic context.
  • Intellectual property, technology transfer and/or spin-off activities from (non-)university research institutions.
  • Specialized knowledge acquired through previous scientific experience.
  • Cooperation projects: Completed or planned development or research activities with university or non-university research institutions.

Our mission statement

AplusB South-West is an association of organizations/institutions from Tyrol, Carinthia, Vorarlberg and Salzburg with the aim of supporting (prospective) growth-oriented start-ups with research-, technology- and innovation-based start-up projects. Depending on their level of maturity, we provide them with offers and funding, network them with relevant players in the start-up scene and offer them the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other.

We are focusing in particular on inspiring start-ups that make a positive contribution to climate and environmental protection in their work and fully exploiting their potential. In addition, we want to make female entrepreneurship visible in our regions and/or our ecosystem, anchor it sustainably and promote it.

Together, we want to be perceived as the central point of contact in the respective federal states for research and technology-oriented start-up projects and position ourselves as an essential player for growth-oriented start-ups in Austria and neighboring regions.

Our association gives the supported startups extended access to a network of experts, mentors and investors from different technology and industry fields, visibility across federal states, topic-specific offers and cooperative exchange among each other.

In order to achieve our goals, respectful and open cooperation is essential. Our aspiration to constantly improve ourselves requires a regular exchange and the willingness of all partners to learn beyond the borders of the federal states.
